The time I have already had the pleasure of spending with the UNL HEP group has been both professionally and personally fulfilling, and I hope that you will see that I can be a valuable asset to the ongoing and future research of the group. My intention in this letter and attached documents is to make a convincing case of that point.

I have a skill set that, I believe, makes me an excellent candidate for this position. During both my undergraduate and graduate career, I was an enthusiastic participant in the UNL HEP group's research, especially as it related to particle detector design, construction, and operation. As you will see in the attached CV, my experience ranges from detector module production and quality control to electronics and software systems design to physics data analysis. Further, during my time in the lab, I have managed and mentored new students to help them become valuable contributors to the lab's activities. These students were the engines that drove progress in the lab, and keeping them motivated and productive was, and will continue to be, of prime importance.

Research that is not shared is research, that for all intents and purposes, did not occur. Therefore, being able to present results and the steps taken to arrive at them in a coherent and understandable way is necessary in science. During my studies, I have given well received talks at major research conferences and presented work numerous times within CMS internal meetings. The skills gained during these experiences would enhance the impact of work done in the lab by sharing it with a wider and more engaged audience.
